Isaac Huwaë and Rudi Sabandar have taken the initiative to start a clean-up action in Allang. Rudi received an invitation
from one of the residents of the Nama Koli district to come to their residents' meeting.
When you enter Negeri Allang, you have a beautiful view from the Puncak Love viewpoint of the approximately one and a half kilometer long beach of Nama Koli that you see below. As soon as you arrive at the beach, you will be shocked by the amount of waste that you see lying there. You can continue to look at the waste or take action to clean the beach.
During the meeting, all sorts of ideas were exchanged, including who would clean the beach and who would maintain it so that it would remain clean. There were also representatives from the Sunday school present. They suggested that the Sunday school children would like to clean the beach. The other attendees thought this was a good idea and the proposal was accepted.
They can use the compensation they receive for this, €60.00 per month, for their Sunday school activities. The Sunday school children started the cleaning action on February 12. The 2nd action was on February 19 and the 3rd on February 26, 2024.
In many places, waste is no longer seen as a problem. It is part of the community of the area. It is getting worse. Because there is now much more waste such as diapers, sanitary towels, wound dressings etc. This is very unhygienic and it does not affect the environment but also the health of humans and animals.
We eat beef that not only eats grass but discarded plastic. We eat types of fish that also eat plastic. We eat microplastic that ends up in our stomach and appendix. So join us in action and help us keep Allang clean!

On Monday 12 February, 30 Sunday school children and 8 Sunday school leaders from the church Immanuel enthusiastically started cleaning up Pantai Nama Koli in Negeri Allang. It was agreed in advance that every Monday from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM the litter would be cleaned up. After prayer and an explanation about the cleaning action, the cleaning started. Gloves and polyester bags were handed out in which the plastic waste had to be put. The waste was thrown into a pile and set on fire. After an hour of cleaning, you could see the result. The beach was free of a lot of plastic litter over a distance of about 100 meters. After cleaning, people talked about the result of the action while enjoying a soft drink. A date for the next one was immediately planned.
On Monday 19 February, theSunday school children and their supervisors were present again at 5:00 PM. After the prayer, they immediately got to work cleaning up the plastic waste. This time, the children brought their ukulele. After an hour of cleaning, the ukuleles came out and various songs were sung enthusiastically. It was wonderful to see the children enjoying themselves. And if you had not brought a ukulele, you took a few pebbles in your hands and joined in with the rhythm of the songs by tapping the pebbles together. Monday 26 February was the day again. Once again the Sunday school children and their leaders were present. Only the weather did not cooperate. It was raining and a lot of waste had washed up on the beach. The children and their leaders did not let the bad weather stop them and continued to clean up all the washed up waste. Through this newsletter we hope to generate the funds that are desperately needed to support the campaign.
Litter in the Moluccas has been a major problem for years. And this is also noticeable in Negeri Allang. The residents of Negeri Allang need our support. They want a clean Negeri and support this action wholeheartedly. In our opinion, this will also apply to more Negeri's in the Moluccas. Perhaps this action can cause a snowball effect!
